Measurement system for alignment of extrusion machines

Easy-Laser® E930 is designed to measure straightness and pointing direction, primarily on extruder pipes. Another application can be hydraulic pipes for example.

An aligned extrusion machine leads to:

  • Less wear on the extruder screw and tube.
  • Even quality on the produced material.
  • Lower energy consumption.
  • Increased machine availability.

With the Easy-Laser® E930 system, pipes with diameters down to 50 mm can be measured, at a range of up to 40 m. The transmitter’s laser beam can be compared to an absolutely straight and weightless ruler, that is to say a perfect starting point for precision measurement.

During the alignment procedure both detector and spindle are rotated, thus self calibrating the system. This way you can determine how the centre line of the spindle is, relative to the tube’s centre at the inlet end.

Document your measurement results

The detector’s measurement value is transferred to the display unit wirelessly, which means that one can measure more freely. The measurement system has programs that guide you step-by-step, using clear graphics on a large 5.7″ colour screen. You can also produce full documentation for your measurement job, with direct generation of PDF reports, and database programs for PC for example.

Many reasons for alignment

The gearbox shaft centre must coincide with the centre line of the extruder tube. Otherwise the screw at the inlet’s end will be pressed against the tube, which will lead to abnormal wear of both screw and tube along with increased energy consumption. This wear can also result in metal fragments in the produced material. It is important that the extruder tube is straight so that the screw does not rest against the tube in any part, which can result in abnormal wear and fragments of metal in produced material. We will also get a more even temperature of produced material which in the end results in a better product.

Complete system with all the measuring programs

Easy-Laser® E930 is a complete system in itself, with laser transmitter, detector and display unit. You can also add other parts from our extensive range to build a system that suits your specific needs and requirements, because all the measurement programs are included as standard. For example add shaft alignment equipment for other rotating machines, and lasers for flatness measurement.

Centre-of-circle, Straightness 2-point

Used for straightness measurement of bearing journals when the bore diameter varies. For example, diesel engines, propeller shaft installations, etc. With advanced “best-fit” calculations.

Straightness measurement

With our program for measuring straightness, you can easily measure long shafts, rolls, bearings, bases, machine structures etc. All you have to do is define a number of measuring points, in advance or while measuring. You will be able to get the result for both the horizontal and vertical alignment, graphically as well as digitally.

Half circle, Straightness 3-point

Readings taken in three positions: 9, 6 and 3. Allows varying diameters. To be used together with the turbine system. With advanced “best-fit” calculations.

Straightness, 4-point

Used for straightness measurement of bearing journals. Measures two points in each direction, X and Y. Can handle up to 999 measurement points with two zero points. With advanced “best-fit” calculations.

Straightness, Multipoint

Used for straightness measurement of bearing journals. The number of measurement positions are theoretically unlimited for each measurement point. Can handle up to 999 measurement points with two zero points. With advanced “best-fit” calculations.

Ovality/roundness

For ovality measurements of bore and bearing journals. The number of measurement positions are theoretically unlimited for each bore.

Documentation

EasyLink™ PC software

With the EasyLink™ database program you can save and organise all your measurements in one place, produce reports with both data and images and export to your maintenance systems. You can customise what your Excel reports should look like and what data should be visible and where it should be positioned. The program has a clear folder structure, where you drag and drop files from the display unit to the database. Create your own structure with folders for manufacturer, department or machine type for example. The database can also be located on a common server and shared with other users. For extra safety you can use EasyLink™ to make backups of what you have saved in the display unit.

Display unit E51

The display unit for the E series enables you to work more efficiently and for longer than ever before thanks to several innovative solutions. It is also ergonomically designed with easy-to-grip rubber cladding and robust construction.

 

Never lose power

The display unit is equipped with our Endurio™ Power management system. This ensures that you never have to stop in the middle of a measurement because the battery has run out.

Ergonomic design

The display unit has a thin, easy-to-grip and rubber coated profile that ensures a secure grip. It has large well-spaced buttons that give clear feedback when pushed. In addition, the two Enter buttons make the system suitable for both right and left-handed users. The display screen has clear graphics that guide you through the measurement process.

Personal settings

You can create a user profile where you can save your personal settings. You can also have different settings for different types of measurements. It makes work faster!

Language selection

You can choose the language that you want to appear on screen. English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, Finnish, Russian, Polish, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese are available.

Upgrading

If you wish to expand functionality in the future, the software in the display unit can be upgraded via the internet or by connecting a USB memory containing the new software. In this way you will also have access to the measurement programmes that we develop for new purposes in the future.

Detector E9 with extruder brackets

Detector diameter 45 mm [1.77″]. 2 axis PSD, 20×20 mm  [0.79″x0.79″]. Built-in 360° electronic inclinometer. Built-in Bluetooth® wireless communication and rechargeable battery. There is also a connector on the back side for standard “red cable” (charging and data transfer). Mounting threads on both ends, for tube adapters (01-0777) or other suitable brackets (e.g. 12-0767 and 12-0553).

D75 Laser transmitter

Laser transmitter for straightness measurement. Measurement distance 40 m [130′]. M6 threads on ends and sides offer alternative mounting options. With the magnet bracket pictured, the laser beam can be pointed from the bracket or through the bracket. Three super magnets holds the transmitter in a perfect position.
